Find Homes for Sale in Downtown/Fan/Museum Districts, Virginia

Downtown Richmond is the most diverse and debated area of Richmond when it comes to what neighborhoods are included and the style of housing it encompasses. The properties here range from High Rise Apartment/Condo living to historical architecture and single family homes. Downtown is home to many restaurants and cafes including upscale dining in Shockoe Slip, while "the Bottom" bursts with nightlife on the weekend. Shockoe Bottom has also become known for its seasonal music and food festivals at the 18th Street Farmer’s Market.

The Fan District is a diverse neighborhood that stretches west from Belvedere Street to the Boulevard in the way its name suggests, a fan. It encompasses VCU and the historic Monument Avenue. Although it is primarily residential, it has numerous restaurants and other service businesses. The Fan's charm derives from the fact that the picturesque housing stock, which dates principally from the late Victorian and Edwardian era, is still intact. The Fan is now prime real estate and has gone through a revival in recent years. The Fan is best explored on foot, it wasn't planned for automobiles. The Fan has so much to offer, so many places to go, and so many choices for restaurants.

Once you cross the Boulevard you enter into the Museum District neighborhood that encompasses VMFA, the Virginia Historical Society, and Carytown. Both of these neighborhoods are known for its walkability, small shops, cafes, and restaurants. These districts are largely attached row homes built in the early 1900s with a few varying exceptions.
